Tough Steps to Reconciliation
Behind Closed Doors Series, Part 12
Speaker: Adam Edgerly
Within the Church
When someone claims that you’ve offended him or her (Matthew 5:21-24)
Seek them out & Hear them out
If you are wrong, Ask for forgiveness
If it is necessary, make restitution
When someone has offended you (Matthew 18:15-17)
Go to that person privately and explain the offense
If they don’t repent try again with a witness or two
If they still don’t repent appeal to the Church (1Corinthians 6:1-8)
If they still don’t repent, treat them like an outsider
The goal of the Church is reconciliation and restoration (Galatians 6:1-5)
Outside of the Church
Settle disputes quickly and privately ( Matthew 5:25,26)
Don’t retaliate (Romans 12:17-21)
If necessary Appeal to the authorities (Romans 13:1-5)
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. (Romans 2:18)
